Giving Tuesday
This Giving Tuesday, your support is more powerful than ever. Thanks to a generous donor, Stray Dog Institute, every dollar you give will be matched up to $5,000 for the month of December.
Did you know? Organizations led by white individuals receive, on average, 24 times more funding than those led by people of color. This staggering disparity highlights the urgent need for change—and your donation can be part of that transformation.
As a BIPOC-led organization, 2024 has been a year of significant challenges for us. Fundraising has been tough, and we’ve faced obstacles for standing firm in our mission for collective liberation. Despite these hardships, we’ve chosen to focus on solutions, resilience, and our communities.
To close out the year, we must raise $20,000 in December to sustain our critical work. Your contribution today will not only help us reach this goal but also double its impact through the match.
Your donation helps us amplify the voices of BIPOC in the fight for animal rights and ensures we continue our work at the intersection of racial equity and animal advocacy.
This Giving Tuesday, let’s defy the odds together. Every dollar counts. Every act of generosity fuels change.

The following day, we're holding Part 2 of our impactful June 1st workshop, "Solidarity and Resistance: Animal Rights in Action." If you registered for that event, make sure to check your email for the recap we sent out, packed with resources.
Our July 20th event, "Standing with Palestine Continued," will pick up where we left off in June. We'll dive deeper into how we resist, agitate, and organize against systemic injustices. We'll also explore ways to show solidarity with our Palestinian siblings and align ourselves with global movements for justice.
This session will be a space to share heavy emotions and broken hearts. Remember, you’re not alone in this—our collective strength can help us find hope and renewal as we move forward together in our activism.
Mental Health Check-In on Coping with Global Atrocities

We’re switching things up a bit. Rather than a traditional presentation by our esteemed wellness coach, Dominique Sade, we are offering the stage to you—our community members. This session will be a raw and honest space where everyone has the opportunity to voice their rage, sorrow, and despair in a supportive environment. It is a place where your emotions are not only validated but deeply understood.
In light of the overwhelming global atrocities that continue to affect us all, we felt another critical mental health check-in session the day before our workshop was warranted. But do know that these gatherings are more than just routine check-ins; it is a sanctuary space where we can collectively navigate the intense emotions that come with bearing witness to systemic injustices and violence around the world.
By coming together, we aim to provide a foundation of solidarity and mutual support. We recognize that the weight of these global crises can feel unbearable when faced alone. This event is intended to remind us that, together, we are stronger. We will listen, share, and heal as a community.

APEX @ AVA 2024
APEX will be attending this year’s Animal and Vegan Advocacy Summit in Washington, DC from May 16 - 19. We will be giving a presentation called "Integrative Activism for Collective Liberation". 🦈🐮🌱
Giving this presentation will be APEX team members:
Chris "Soul" Eubanks, Founder/Executive Director
Yvette Baker, Director of Activism
Akbar Ali, Head of Communications

APEX will also be hosting a BIPOC meetup where animal advocates of color can meet and network to learn about inclusive and radical approaches to animal advocacy rooted in the lived experiences and perspectives of BIPOC activists. It's an opportunity to share experiences, challenges, and victories in advocacy while building a supportive community.
For those who are interested in learning more about the team at APEX, we will also be hosting special one-on-one sessions where you can engage in in-depth discussions with myself and others at APEX who have a wide range of experiences and perspectives on social justice advocacy.
Additionally, we’ll be tabling at the AVA Summit, and handing out our BIPOC Animal Activism Starter Guide, a guide that was written by us, for us, and is meant to inspire readers to become advocates for nonhuman animals.
APEX, in collaboration with other folx at AVA and in the DC area, will also be participating in an action which centers the ongoing fight for a free Palestine (Falasteen) which is open to all collective liberation activists at the event.
